Tony Kriz is a husband, father, author, writer, speaker and neighborhood theologian. He is a Portlander who has deep ties to his community of Portland Oregon.

Tony shares his story of God finding him through losing his faith. How God showed up in his fog and reached out to him and said I’ve got you Tony.

He also shares why he has a red door at his home, and what that means to him as well as others.

He is the author Neighbors and Wise Men and his latest book is Aloof: Figuring Out Life with a God that Hides.

Walter Brueggemann is a husband, pastor, writer, author of 58 books and hundreds of articles. He is widely considered one the most most influential Old Testament scholars of the last several decades.

He taught for over 4 decades. Brueggemann participated in Bill Moyers’ 1990’s PBS television series on Genesis. We talk about his story, and his book Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now.

J.R. Briggs is a husband, father, and pastor at Renew Community in Lansdale, PA. He’s a writer, and author of the book Fail: Finding Hope and Grace in the Midst of Ministry Failure.

He’s also the founder of Epic Fail Pastors conference, as J.R. says, “I simply longed for a space where no one was scared by the shortcomings of other sinners, even if those sinners were also ministry leaders.”

When he talks about success and the church he echoes what one of his long term mentors Eugene Peterson says about success and the church, “The biblical fact is that there are no successful churches. There are, instead, communities of sinners. . . . In these communities of sinners, one of the sinners is called pastor.”
